Congrats, beauty first buck! I nominate you for kickass huntress of the year. Well done, and great story.

Congrats, that's a beautiful buck.

Thislittlehuntinggirl, what do you mean by "setting a benchmark" ?

Haha I mean I feel like it's going to be hard to top this one so I'll be comparing my next hunting seasons to this!

Default Thanks for all the replies!

Thanks everyone for all the replies! Feels so good to share this achievement. Doe tags filled too this year and so many grouse in the freezer, it's really been a great season. I'm going to try my hand at elk next which is definitely a lifetime goal of mine! Now to put in all the work of sniffing out a good elk spot! Would love to hear anyone's elk stories as motivation!

I saw an Elk on the way to town the other day.

That's it, that's my Elk hunting story.

Sad fact is I have never hunted Elk, I never learned how and now I'm too old and crippled up to start learning new hunting techniques.

Default Caped and off to be mounted

I decided that this was a memory worth preserving for a long time so I am getting him mounted. I had no idea there were so many options for mounting! I'm having him mounted in a full sneak pose, which is the pose that I see in my mind when I remember the moment. I can't wait to get him back (it's going to be a long 6 months until it's ready!). I added a few pictures, including one of me holding him up after camping him to take him in to the taxidermist.
