Every rifle has it's own tastes. What one rifle thrives on, another hates. If you don't reload, buy a bunch of different manufacturer's ammo for the specific task you will be using it for and shoot. It will most likely prefer one brand over another.
I only use mine for moose so I don't use it allot. Not enough to justify reloading for it anyway. I just use the old reliable Remington Core-Lokt rounds in 180 gr. I haven't had any problem hitting anything that I've been aiming at.
What kind of ammo does your Savage - 300 win enjoy spitting out. Im looking for a new load!
I reload for a good friend. His rifle likes Swift 180Gn scirocco with IMR 7828 at 80 gns. MV at around 3000-3100 fps with his barrel. He has hunted extensivly with this load and he loves it.
