Jim Smith Lake has bass and perch, although I am not really sure how big they get up there. We have quite a few other lakes in Ft.Steele and Bull River area that are decent for fly fishing..lots of Rivers close by as well.(both areas are within 15 minutes of Cranbrook and offer lots of camping opportunities)
For the best bass fishing that I know of,there is Duck Lake which is on the way to Kootenay Lake as you drive through Creston. It's probably about 2 hours away from Cranbrook.

This is just all off the top of my head,I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will chime in for ya

Default Fish'in in Cranbrook area

x2 on Duck Lake but at this time of the year there are alot weeds (like weeds right up to the surface for the entire length of the lake). Jim Smith Lake was good as well but i have only fished it in the spring. Baines, Tie and Suzanne Lakes are fun as well.
