Default brownells gunkote

has anyone ever used this? i am planning on doing a knife with it...do i have t have the blade blasted? or if i sand it then clean it with degreaser/brake cleaner will it be "scuffed" enough to hold the gunkote? the directions do not say you have to have it blasted, but some of the online videos do....grrrr...

thanks

I have some Brownells Alumahyde II if you want to try that...?

I can probably blast it for you as well, though if it as a very hard steel it might not do too much!
