Default 500 Yard Standing Offhand CHALLENGE

Sounds like there is lots of interest, so here it is ... The challenge is to shoot five consecutive shots into a 10" target from a standing offhand position from 500 yards,

THE RULES
*Restricted to rifles exceeding 23 caliber (Alberta hunting legal).
*No restrictions on rifle, upgrades, or optics.
*Must be shot from a standing offhand position without sling support.

THE TARGET
*Target circle must be 10" in diameter, centered on plain paper, with border not less than 5" outside the target area.
*Target must be placed at least 500 yds from the shooting position.

POSTING SUCCESSFUL TARGETS
*Posting a successful target requires a picture of the target panel with five shots only ... inside the target circle. No bullet holes in the border area around the perimeter of the target circle.
*Post a pic of the rifle used for the CHALLENGE with details.

This CHALLENGE begins Jan 1, 2015 ... so please refrain from posting "old wallet groups". Also, please use the target format suggested above ... no blister marks on old gongs, no pie plates without borders. If the "plate" is glued to the background, please post a pic of the backside of the paper as well.

This CHALLENGE is for your personal satisfaction, it is not a contest. Share your passion.

I will bet you $1000.00 that there will be at least 8 holes in my target.

Providing of course that staple holes count....lol

Tagged.

Haha 260. I was wondering when you would do this. I'm in. Gonna practise hard for this hopefully. Work is priority now for me with break up round the corner. But will do eventually.

Given the difficulty of putting five consecutive shots inside the plate, don't be shy about showing any pic with "just some of the five allowed" on the paper. No, they won't meet the Challenge in the OP, but they will be proof of some "damned close" resolve.

We have a timeline on this 260 Rem? I will have to source some private land to do this challenge, that takes some time.

I would like to add one last RULE!

It has to be with a rifle that you use to hunt BIG GAME, not GOPHERS, That's for Children!

Agreed?

Read the rules....it's covered already, and 260Rem makes the rules it's his challenge

LC, we know already that every challenge has to be on his own terms. He'll claim to accept all challenges under his own rules and terms. Which translated means that he's a NO show. I have a dubvious feeling that this "man" will only show in type, never in person.

For those with reading comprehension issues does "offhand" mean leaning on the hood of your truck....

And what if we shoot the black circle inside a "fawn target" instead? Does that make us less manly? What if the circle is in a cow or calf elk target? How does this point system work?

(I know what freehand means, but some others seem fuzzy on the subject)

First Chuck --- Good prediction regarding that being my entry... I have no illusions and will not even attempt.
FreeLantz - none of the CHALLENGES have and "end date" so anytime you get to it is fine.

Yeah I'm with cowtown guy , 260.

How about doubling at least the size to 20" ? Free handing 10" at 200 yards is challenging enuff( pretty doable , just requires some practise, but ), 9x scopes at 500 on a 10" er will be hard to see probably.

Not to mention irons

I want the CHALLENGE to be a "real challenge" but not to be so difficult that nobody tries ... if there is some consensus, I would post a new CHALLENGE thread ... with the circle being
20" ...is that more realistic? The important thing here is get some shooting done and have fun!

Skins thin if that's all it took.

Good, as many other members who've expressed their opinions by PM, I'll be bold enough to tell you that we don't want you around here. We speak of our range results, reloading data, hunting and shooting accomplishments in a generally truthfull manner, no bull****, no crap. Your input has already been instrumental in a thread lock. Go away please, you are an ambarassment to the shooting community.

You don't want anyone around here that disagrees with you.

This was a open challenge to shoot according to the parameters set, and a classy move by the OP. Fairly straight forward. Why not encourage participation? Of all members here? It is a poor representation of shooting sports and the shooting community to discourage participation of any kind, or bully someone into a corner. Let it go. You have more than said your piece.
Let the results and posted targets, whatever they may look like, speak for themselves.
