Default Hopper Paterns

Hello,
So I am relativity new to this sport (fly-fishing) and have been adding to my fly collection slowly over the winter. Question I have, is what hopper patterns and/or colors would you suggest a person obtain for fishing the southern rivers and streams? Say from Calgary to Coleman areas mostly. Thank you in advance.

Tan coloured seem to be the most common along the Crowsnest.

This August take a drive south and when you get to where you're going check the front of your car radiator. The hoppers stuck to your rad or grill are the colors you want. Or any other fly colors.

The ole rad check is a good start. Pale yellow, stimmies, tan as mentioned all do the trick.

Default Grandfather's advice

Presentation counts more than anything else. Since I started (50 years ago) in Alberta my flys that started as elk hair Caddis and elk hair hoppers no look like one another, and when there is a hatch or the wind is blowing hoppers on the water they work just fine.
I use elk hair because it floats great. Welcome to the addiction.
