Default Acreage Tractor - What kind of discount off MSRP??

Ideas??

In the market for a new acreage tractor (good financing rates vs buying used - 0% financing with 10% down for 84 months).

Looked at the big three in our area (Deere, case and Kubota) and settled on a tractor with a MSRP of about 50k and an additional 20k in implements.

So total purchase price before taxes is around 70...how much can I reasonably expect to drop this in the AG world?? I can hold my own buying vehicles from dealerships but this would be my first tractor.

Same ballgame I would guess ??

My brother is in the boat as you as his tractor burnt down this haying season. He was telling me that they don’t like to move on the price very much. But he’s looking at used one and not new.

Default yeh - i agree with Neil ...

CaseIH, kubota are going to be pretty firm on their prices.

John Deere - will "you don't want to go there anyways ... "

if you're looking to haggle -- the used market is your best avenue ...

That's a little depressing. Was hoping for at LEAST 10% off MSRP would be reasonable but maybe not??

I think you've gotta buy 3 machines to get 10% from JD.

JD is easily 10% higher than comparable machines from Kubota and Case to start. So they're out of the running at this point anyways.

I’ve seen a few guys running Massey lately, as well as Kyoti.

Check out LS tractors as well. Often rebranded to names more recognisable in North America. (Used to make for case/nh, I believe. Not sure if they still do).

Depending on size, I’d be going

Kubota
LS
Kioti

In that order. Also, be aware of the emissions crap on the larger sizes.

Fwiw, Deere just doesn’t make the list for me. A good place to research is the tractorbynet forum.

Let us know your decision.

I'm not a Deere guy in general but not a hater either, haha. Western Tractor has what appears to be a pretty good price on some of the smaller tractors. If you don't mind blue odds are you can get one for a bit better $$$ than a red one even though they are both CNH products.

The case is a rebranded Ls so I wouldn't pay a premium for the red paint

maybe try offering to pay list on the tractor and maybe they throw in or discount the attachments. Parts and attachments are where the huge mark up is and is likely where you can haggle the best.

Go to all the dealers. Get a quote from each for the same equipment. I saved $3000 on my 2014 John Deere 2032r by going to Wainwright over Lloydminster.

Also, if you buy JD you will get most if not all your money back if you sell or trade up if you keep it in great shape. Crazy how that works but with the cost of these units going up so much yearly it makes sense somehow.

The 0% is tough to pass, I did the same.

If you are looking at a front mount blower, be aware the deere’s used to have a weak casting that failed usually when you were away and the wife needed, or the snow was deep/heavy.

A John Deere costs more up front, but the resale 20 years later will more than make up for it.

I was looking for a while and wouldn't use it enough to justify a new one. Found a 2011 Massey Ferguson 35hp with 200hrs for $25,000 on kijiji. Love it, I use to get all bundled up to push snow with my quad, now I can do it in a t-shirt.

When it comes to acreage tractors, go orange. I have operated a new Deere 30hp tractor numerous times and can not believe how crappy the loader,3pth and drive controls work.
So don't just look for price, look for quality as well. And this comes from a Deere guy.....

Can you run a 72" Snowblower with 40 HP PTO?

I run a 3 pt 84" with a 90 hp PTO and have to slow down sometimes.

Go with a kubota.. Deal for awhile. Make them price absolutely everything. If they won’t move on msrp then act like your not interested. Call around because it surprising the difference in pricing nowadays.

Exactly. I've worked on them all for my profession and have ran almost every brand there is. Family are all farmers/ranchers and die hard JD owners. Under ~80HP I would not even look at anything other than a Kubota. The features, fuel usage and cost of ownership are so much better than the competition it's not even close. Reliability is second to none, and the HST units are the smoothest and most quiet by far. Go orange, you won't regret it. Most dealers are already not making much because of stiff competition so I would be shocked to se close to 10% off. Possible I guess but not likely. Attachments is where you can really knock some $$$ off.

There is quite a difference in controls and hydraulic systems in the Deere models. A tractor with only a slightly more powerful engine may have a much better hydraulic system.

Anybody have an experience with a Massey ?? Not sure about their financing however. Liked the idea of 0% for 84 months.

Seems I can get a comparable tractor WITH a FEL for about the same price as just the orange tractor.
