Default Buying a bow...

First time on these forums! I've been looking at getting into bow hunting for the last few years and finally convinced my wife that it's a good idea. I've been doing a bunch or research and test shot a few bows. The one I liked the most was the Bowtech Assassin and from the reviews I've seen most people think its a lot of now for the money.

Any thoughts from people that have been around the sport for a while?

Yah I did hear that. The guys at the bow shop I went to said that bowtech was warranting the rest but just with the same one. My thoughts are I'll keep the rest while I'm just practicing through the winter and replace it next summer before I plan to use it for hunting.

Great bow. I tried out some "higher end" bows but went with the Assasin anyway. It just felt better.

Change out the rest as soon as you can. Don't wait. It will wear out really fast and you won't get good, consistent groupings and you'll be constantly chasing it with your sight.

Other than that, it's a great bow for sure.

I like mine, got it at Jimbows and will not shop anywhere else as they are great people there. The arrow rest is junk, they put a Whisker biscuit on it and I'm happy/ A cheaper bow I tried there came with a whisker biscuit and shot very well. Diamond back I think.

I bought my Assassin this week from Jimbows. Love the bow and was shooting pretty consistent groups at 20 yards. Anyone know anywhere I can stretch it out to 40 in the Calgary area?

Yeah I tried a bunch as well and went with the Assassin, so far though I had put a whisker biscuit on (the pse I was shooting had it and I like the simplicity) and a axcel 5 pin sight.

Calgary archery does indeed have 20,30,40 sections. The only issue is the 30 is normally behind the 10 and if it is busy it is packed.
