At the Lake Lot on the weekend with the kids at Calling Lake. Sunday afternoon my seven year old daughter was upset that everyone else had landed fish and she had not. We kept trolling for about 100 feet and the rod went right over to the water. After a surprisingly long fight, I got to watch her land an 8 pound pike, which her 10 year old brother very nicely netted for her. It was the biggest of the weekend by a couple of pounds on the walleye that her brother and sister caught, so she was very proud, as I was as well.

I feel the same way. We were out for the last three weeks and my daughter had not caught one off and on I would hand her my rod "to hold" and what would you know a fish would bite. You do what you gotta do.
