Default Fishing the Crowsnest River

Hello overyone. This is my first year of fly fishing and we are spending the May long weekend in Crowsnest Pass. So...I know the season opens June 15, but parts of the Crowsnest river are open year round. What can I expect as far as fishing conditions now? Any tips to help out a newbie.

One other quick question. I do not have waders yet. Should I invest in some before the weekend or can I get by without for a few days.

Thanks in advance

I drove over it today, and it seemed high and dirty at my casual glance.

Ya runoff has hit the crow and the oldman. Your best bet is to fish some of the lakes in the area.

if the run off has hit i would look into fishing chinook, lee, & beauvais lake.

i would look at getting waders for spring, fall,& winter fishing.

That is great advice!
The most important thing about any wader is the waist belt. Do not get in the river without one snugged up.

The Crow is a real easy walk and wade river after run off but right now it is very dangerous. I was walking beside it today and it is fast moving chocolate milk

x2...

fishing is rough during run-off. I would highly suggest you take Nates advice and hit one of the trout lakes. You should be able to hook up a ton on leech imitations.

Ended up hitting Lee twice and was able to catch a few. Had a hard time with the wind but still had fun. Can't wait for the 15th
