Default Back from Sooke.

Well we made it out to Sooke and back safe once again. Fishing was a little slow this year and a guy had to work for them but they were there. A two fish day was considered a good day even the charter boys were having a tough go of it with two fish being a big day for them with the odd three fish day. We came home with 9 nice Chinook in total so we have our share for the year. I was hoping for a couple more but am thankful for what we have for sure. The weather was excellent with only one morning of 20 knot winds and it tested the Lund out pretty good with 4-5 footers rolling in when coming out of the inlet but she did pretty good as you can tell I made it. Most of our days were 1 fish days with a couple 2 fish days but not bad for just fishing till noon every day and then taking the afternoons off for family activities. But I must say that it was the best fishing trip I have had out west as far as getting to spend time out on the water, we fished 11 out of the 13 mornings we were out there, I pretty much tired both my boys out and ended up going out myself once and then had to rotate the boys and let them rest. But I loved every day of it and could have spent another 11 days out there. There’s just something about being out on the salt chuck that I just can’t get enough of maybe it’s the fact that you just never know when that big 50# hog is going to hit???

Here are a few pics from the trip.

A couple nice hogs from the morning fish. A 21# pounder for Jordan and an 18 for me.

Sammy and Jordan with a couple, Sammys is a nice 10# for the Bar-B

My biggest for the trip a 22# slab.

And Jordan with the biggest of the trip a nice 24# specimen.

And just a couple random shots. Man I love that place..

Default West coast

Ya I here ya walleyes I spent 8 days fishing from dusk till dawn at the end of june and could have stayed another 8 days no problem. And I don't really care for eating fish I just like the experience and not knowing what is going to bite next. Next year I will go at the end of summer that way I won't spend the whole summer trying to figure out how to get back.

We go it alone Penner, with my own boat and gear. Been headin out to the coast for quite a few years now and used to spend a couple weeks out there every summer fishing when I was a kid so I am getting to know the country pretty good.

Welcome back!

Nice fish. Congrats! Those are some calm looking ocean pics. That pic of the light house....very nice.

Glad you and your family made out well. What a blast to be doing your own thing and mixing in fishing with the vacation.

Cheers!

Thx guys. And yah Sooke is a great place for mixing in the family activities with the fishing a person is only 20 min from Victoria and depending on where you stay at Sooke it can be as little as a 10 min run to the fishing grounds and at times they are as good of fishing as there is to be had on the coast.

Very nice Terry,
We looked for you guys, but missed you.
We got 3 on board and lost 3 others at the boat, or just out back.
Like yours, a 21, 18 and a 10 lb'er.

I'll have my pics up in a day or so.

TBark
