Default Banff

Anywhere along the Bow River is worth a try! You will need a National Parks Licence though. West of Banff there is Bow Lake-unbelievable place. There is Rampart Creek, Nigel Creek, Horseshoe Lake, Moab Lake, Miette River, Maligne River. Try the local fishing store-they will have maps I would think.

Most of these places are so nice it wouldn't matter if there are any fish!

X2 on wapiti sports. Nick is a great guy. Too bad Jeff had to take off to saskabush. I did a trip with him up to spray lakes and we hammered the lakers all day. Pretty down to earth guys and there shop is awesome.

how is lake minnewanka for fishing and what kinda fish could a guy catch?

I could get a trip with a place up there for $380 for 2....on boat for 4.5hrs
OR
walk and wade for $320 for 2...on the river for 7hrs

Just wanna make sure Minnewanka is a good lake and worth it.

I highly recommend Georges Tremel from On-line Sport and Tackle in Jasper. I hired him for a day long trip on Maligne Lake when my dad came up for a visit. He knows the lake, uses a sinking fly line set up, and will have everything you will need to be comfortable. We caught almost 30 fish. Their phone # is 780-852-3630.

For fishing Banff you can contact a friend of mine, Don Reilly at Alpine Anglers. He is a great guy and good guide. He lives and guides out of Banff. Mind you he will also take people all over as he knows most of the Alberta Rivers well.

Hope this helps.

Don Reilly is great
Wapiti Sports is terrific
Dan Bell is outstanding
Monod Sports - can be great depending on which guide you get
If you're looking for lakers at Minnewanka, use Blair at Minnewanka Tours

George Tremel in Jasper is great, as is Lorne Currie. Some of the Maligne Lake Tours guides are very good too.
