Default Coyotes and cwd

Does anyone know what happens to coyotes that have eaten deer that tested positive for cwd? Could they get it as well?

As long as you don't eat the coyote, you should be fine...

I am unaware of any plave that tests coyotes but it brings up an interesting point. Scavengers will cosume much more deee thsn the average person.

Is it possible to jump species that way? Would definitely let us know it could jump to humans if a coyote got it.

Predators have their own set of problems.
They serve a purpose in nature, they will eat the weak, so it’s healthy for the ecosystem for them to eat any old, weak and sick deer they come along.
I doubt CWD is a problem.

I always cringe, when I see people's dogs licking their face.

CWD is a disease of cervids, such as deer, elk, moose, caribou and reindeer.

To my knowledge, coyotes and other canids as not susceptible to it. There has, however, been transmission to primates under laboratory conditions in which they were exposed to large quantities of CWD prion infected meat, brain and cerebrospinal fluid.

To my knowledge coyotes, bears and wolves are Mother Natures clean up crew of contaminated animals including CWD.
