Default Fishing inconnu

Yeah, its video watching day. Should be out there fishing but got stuff to do around the house.

Anyone who gets excited about fishing whitefish should really appreciate Inconnu. Seem more like lakers on the bait you might use. Check out this vid and tell you me wouldn't want to be one of these lucky gents:

That is up in the arctic circle. The auger stuff at the end almost made me spit out my coffee. Great music too!

And, if you are not an ice fishing person, I think you can appreciate this open water fishing:

Good lord those are big! Better break out the 10 wt fly rod. Same area I believe. Just might have to figure out a trip up there.

I want to catch inconnu in the Caspian Sea. Maybe a fishing trip to Iran is in order.

Connies got my attention while I was working up north, guy I talked to said they were his favourite fish to eat but the pictures were what really impressed me. Neat looking fish, big and can be caught in many of the places I travel to. Haven’t found one that would take a fly though. Might have to change tactics eventually, but I’m pretty stubborn.

I've caught a few, nothing bigger than 7 or 8lbs though. Kastmasters and cleos work well.

The species in the Caspian Sea is extinct in the wild (beloribitsa). The species in Russia and North America is still in very high numbers, lol.

Different fish, kind of like chinook salmon vs coho salmon. Both salmon but different species.

I remember watching an old sportsman show on TV 30 years ago and the guys were fishing a river up north that was only 30 feet wide and they were catching 60 to 70 pound inconnu. Great big square bucket mouths. They were using spoons and big spinners. Would be a dream fish for me too.

Years ago we found a little local Bee Farmer between Golden and Radium, started buying honey from the old guy and his wife every year after when in Radium for a weeks holiday.

You pull up and see moose horns on his barn, like. You go in to get your honey and he has pics of different fish he caught on the wall. He had pics of this fish and the stories he told made this a bucket fish for me.

One day.
