Default Slave Lake walleye slot size for 2022

I see the regs are out now showing a slot size for walleye on lesser slave lake of one fish 45-50cm. Slot sizing makes logical sense to me, so I’m just fine with this.

Pike is now closed at LSL.

Winagami, 30 miles away, on the other hand remains at 1 walleye over 60 cm. Where is the science in the decision making here?

Default Salve lake walleye slot

We are the only province or state in North America that specifically targets spawning size female walleye for retention.

It only took them 15 years to figure out there are too many stunted walleye in the lake. There are a few bad year classes for recruitment coming down the pipe, so expect fishing to get worse before it gets better with this slot limit.

Should have happened many, many years ago.

It makes sense if you look at the last Fall Index Netting completed on ol' stinky water.

BC has no size limit in most waters with walleye

Finally going in the right direction but sadly its to late. This is going to take 10 years at minimum to see results, hope the bios will give it the time needed but im sure they will make changes before any good is done .
