Default Starting loads for Barnes 175/200gr lrx 300 win

Hey all,

I'm new to reloading and a little unsure of myself. Im trying to find some starting loads for a 300 win mag using 175 gr and 200 gr barnes lrx bullets as this browning xbolt hells canyon of mine seems to ONLY like barnes bullets lol. I have the Nosler reloading guide 8 and Lyman 49th edition handbooks but neither of them mention anything about Barnes bullets with the 300 win. I currently have 1 pound of each Retumbo, IMR7977 and Reloader 25 as starting powders and was wondering if anybody had a good place to start with the powders/bullets mentioned above or any reloading manuals i can pickup that might help me out.

Thanks,
James

Ok thanks for the help, I just didn't see any load data for any of those powders for the lrx's on barne's website or any info for the LRX in the barnes reloading manual #4.

You will be 100% safe using 180 TSX or TTSX load data with the 175's.
Those 200's are a loooong bullet!

My own 300 Win ( Rem700) shoots the 180 TTSX into the 0.4" range with RL22, velocity 3080 fps.

At least for the Retumbo and 7977 the Hodgdon website has load data for the 180 and 200/208 grain bullets. This will give you starting loads and max expected velocity for bullets of similar weight and shape to the TTSX. You can work up from there till you hit max velocity and watch for pressure signs. The other choice would be to call or email Barnes and see if they have data specific to the bullet and powders you want to use. They a very good to talk to and very helpful.

Yeah Those 200gr lrx's are very long, I haven't exactly measured them but there probably an inch and a 1/2 long. They look like they could be and absolute hammer on Moose/Elk bullet but definitely a little too much for deer haha.
