Default Load for .223

I'm trying to put together a few trial loads for a rifle. The gun is a 223 with a
1-9 twist. If this snow ever melts I'd like to start shooting.

Do any of you have some pet loads to try ?

I've got a good supply of IMR 4064 and IMR 4897 on hand so if it needs one of these powders that would be a bonus.

Thanks

Not sure if the 1:9 stabilizes 75gr A-Max

but 22.8gr varget/H335 under the 75 AMax gives me great results when seated 20 thou off the lands.

23.1 gr H335 under 55 VMax works great for me too.

This is in a 1:8 twist. You'll have to play with your loads, I find that even 0.1gr changes will affect your group size easy. 22.7 and 22.9gr varget will be bigger than 22.8 for me, by an average of .2 moa.

69gr SMK or 75gr AMAX over H4895 with a CCI BR-2... Varget works a touch better in my cases but H4895 is cheaper and easier to find... Never tried IMR 4895 but might work as good...

For mag length seating I prefer the SMK, if single feeding then i run the AMAX about .010 off the lands and she ain't no slouch.

I really like this stuff in my .223.

In my 223's Varget works nicely with 69gr Matchkings and Benchmark with 55gr Vmax. I believe IMR 4198 is also good with the lighter bullets, but I don't have my load data on hand right now. Lot's of powders to choose from that will work well.

I use h 4895 for my 55 grain blitzking loads. Then use Varget for the 69 gr matchking and 70 gr Bergers. I haven't decided witch bullet works better at distance yet.

Any particular purpose for your loads? Coyotes? Target?

23 grains H335 and 55 grain Vmax - excellent load, anything with Benchmark has also worked great in my .223.

Range fun out to 300 yards and a little gopher/coyote/samsqaunch shooting

I like printing groups but blasting milk jugs and clay targets is more fun. Especially at 300 plus yards.
