Default Calling All Mouse Exterminators!!

I've had it.... I'm the most unlucky guy for mice problems in holiday trailers.
Got a new one this year...and made sure I bought one that had an enclosed underbelly to keep the buggers out. Got it home and the 1st thing I do is go underneath and seal every possible orifice. Bring it out to where I store it, which I believe to be the Cancun for mice.....like an all exclusive resort. So, I know that they're there,so I plant a swack of poison all over in the general vicinity and put 4 pieces in the trailer.
I go there 2 days later to find all the poison around the trailer gone and the 4 pieces inside gone as well
Plant the traps.. check next day and voila....2 victims. Haul the trailer home, go underneath seal more possible spots, go inside and seal every hole into the trailer that a mouse could breech ( well one's I can see )
Bring out to storage for a test run on the week-end and find 1 in the trap and a dead one under the couch. I'm guessing the buggers are eating the poison outside, coming in and dying...Great.... now I have to break it all apart and look for dead one's.
I did the bounce sheet thing under the tub, where I thought the mice were getting into the trailer. No sign of mice there, but the mice definitely got inot the main trailer area.
Is it possible that their entering the heater vents that go into the heated underbelly and climbing up through the heat vents into the trailer?
I could tape those vents but that doesn't stop them hanging aqround in the heating system.... Thats all I need...hantavirus fumes circulated through the trailer from the furnace running !!!
Anybody have any idea's or suggestions?
I've used moth balls before...and I've also heard of Irish Spring soap. I guess if I can't find the source of entry maybe I can put something in the trailer that'll stop them from coming in..

Thanks..

If you can stick you pinky in a hole...they can sneak in through it.
If not they make their own.

Poisoning probably isn't practical. from the sounds of iyt..you have about a zillion of em where you store the trailer.

Maybe a deterrent will work.

If you have power available there are sound devices that work OK.

I plug holes with steel wool and use moth balls in my shed.... seems to keep em at bay pretty well.

When I camp out I put my trapline under the trailer. In a month I got over 70 mice. Believe it or not. Pelts ain't worth much though. My trailer is right tight no holes or crannies for them pesky buggers. I hate em. I trap them then I burn em.

I cut up Irish Spring soap and put a few margarine containers in the trailer. So far it has worked for me.

I've had good luck with sonic deterrents. I still have use traps but the sonic rigs sure cut down on the problem.

Pour a layer of lime around the trailer when you park in fairly thick they dont like to cross it from what I'm told it burns their feet, Ive heard of people doing it for mobile homes.

I've seen these used before for indoor applications...it was in a summer cottage and seemed to do the trick. Cheap, effective and chances are you have the parts sitting around the garage already.

I keep a couple of these on full time duty. Forgot to check one once and by the time I did, it was packed. The little buggars must have crawled on top of each other to get in. If you're not into catch and release, just throw it in a bucket of water.

We used to build something like that back on the farm. Only a lot simpler.
They worked like a charm, but are too big and messy for in house trapping.

They can get in through any hole 3 feet off the ground. I have tried everything, Soap, moth balls, warfaine. After hundreds of em caught in traps I Finally seeled up the Power cord entrance, yes they run/jump up the power cord and into your trailer. Since then Zero in the traps and Zero mouse crap inside. Irish spring? They love that soap, I swear it's like Viagra for mice.

Yup i have had the same mouse problems and used the electronic plug in device, bounce, mothballs ,irish spring etc to no avail but the trailer sure smelled good. After an exclusive trapping poisoning and clean up of these nasty vermin i ensure the plug in is now sealed as well as the outside shower box. So far so good since then.
I have the enclosed bottom on my trailer and i think that it was just a Condominium for the beggars.

Irish Spring works.

Another thing people did when I was in Texas was line boric acid around their windows/house, it worked great for bugs but not sure it would work with mice.

Other then that more poison/traps and keep it up. Buy some of those traps with the big holder and the spring loaded thing that throws them in there. Can catch lots without having to empty.

Haven't used the sticky pads but might be able to catch multiples there.

Default Marinco Conversion Kits

If you're having problems with mice coming in the "mouse hole" (the power cord inlet), you may want to look into installing something like this:

30 Amp RV Detachable Power Conversion Kit (30ARVKIT)
50 Amp RV Detachable Power Conversion Kit (50ARVKIT)

I haven't installed one in mine yet, but in the meantime I've been putting one of those stainless scrubbing pads in the cord compartment, wrapped around the cord. It's worked for me so far...

All the best in getting rid of those vermin! Can't stand having 'em in the house or trailer.

I use this as well. works great. When the temperature gets below freezing, you can use winter windshield washer fluid to replace the water.

Living in a new community right next to a grain field can get pretty horrible. When the swather starts rolling in a few days I will be changing traps twice a day. Between the cat & I we have probably killed 100 this year alone.

Its definately been a horrible year for mice. By far the best thing we purchased to control the mice was a cat. The coyotes enjoyed the first one but this one seems to be smarter.

Steel wool on all the holes, Irish spring soap and lots of traps works for us. The best way to find all the holes is to have someone in the trailer at night with a powerful flashlight. One person goes underneath while the person inside uses the flashlight on all suspect areas. The person underneath will see light shining through the holes. Fill the holes with steel wool.

We were very surprised how many holes there were that I couldn't find before using the flashlight method. Went from having 4 or 5 in the traps every few weeks, to 1 or 2 every few months. Its a never ending battle, but we've managed to keep them under control. This trailer is at a permanent spot in mouse country!

What does Irish Spring soap do to mice? Is it a deterrent, a poison.

SikWiskey says Irish Spring it acts like Viagra. Do you think old greylynx would be running around saying " I like it too" if he were to ingest some?

Default Mice here too

Does anyone know if mice will climb 10-12 feet up a wood siding house upside down across wood soffits and enter a 1/2 gap at the facia? I have searched high and low and can't figure out how the buggers are getting into my ceiling . But at 5 am it is getting annoying. I have a trap set and have been caching them but I want to stop them from getting in.

I have seen them things climb up metal table legs, and those are smooth. Wood siding, they can grip. In short your answer IMHO is yes.

From my experience, don't bother with the sticky pads, unless you throw the whole pad complete with mice away. Do not try to scrape them off. It is not a pretty sight. I learned this the hard way. Lesson learned.

I'm thinking that poison isn't the answer. Don't think I could ever exterminate all of them so why bother. I may drop a bunck of poison when my trailers not there to rid what I can but after findind a dead one under the couch I'm thinking that they would could eat the poison outside on there way in..so to speak...then pile up somewhere in the trailer where I might not be able to get to them. For a small critter they sure stink when they're breaking down
I just plain hate them things.....I wish they all would die....

Thats a new one for me!
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone one with a snake - and I hate snakes more than mice, so I guess its back to the trapline for me!
