Pretty cool experience/photo. There's a pack in the Onoway area and there were a couple roaming around the Legal area last year (not seen this year). Not all that far in the grand scheme of things.

Nice to see. What makes you think it is a female? More chance of a young male being alone and exploring.

Maybe the wolf wanted you to follow it. It looked at you and was howling as if to say..."Follow me, help. Pup's in the well."

You have cat or dog food on your deck? We cover our cat food to keep the temptation down.

Cool experience & pic. Thanks!

Very cool pic. I am sure you and your pets are safe because they only take out the weak or old right?

So much for, shy retiring creatures , who avoid man at all opportunities.

We had a wolf hanging around our yard about 20 years ago that was acting bold. After that we had a rash of parvovirus in our neighbourhood. It was our first year up there, so I don’t know if the wolf got parvo from our dogs or if our dogs got parvo from the wolves, but the end result was the same for all of them. The wolf in the photo looks scrawny; could be sick or could just be young and hungry.

Before everyone piles on, I didn’t vaccinate my farm dogs then but have since learned my lesson.
