Savage Mark II .22LR bolt action problem

Hi guys,
I just picked up today my first rifle ever. I bought a Savage Mark II .22LR, nice rifle so far but seems like i have a bit of an issue here... Nothing too big but enought to be anoying.

Everytime i push or pull the bolt from the action it feels hard and rough and tight.. Loaded or non-loaded it still does the same thing. I can definitely see that the bolt is grinding on the bolt-action casing as i lock it down or unlock it.. Im guessing that maybe a gun smith could grind that part a littlebit, what do you think about it ?

I've seen some forum's thread about it but couldn't find a good answer.

Take it completely out of the stock and work the action. Too much tension on the action screw/s can cause a bind.

Have you completely cleaned the bolt and action, and properly lubed the rifle? Savages are not known for being smooth, but most firearms benefit from being cleaned and lubed, before being used for the first time.

Or if you just bought it and you don't like it, I would take it back and buy a CZ.

Shhhh, shhh. Nothing wrong with savages. Mine have all been a bit stiff out of the box. They do break in quickly. Make sure it is cleaned. The bolt should be soaked in cleaner. Then LIGHTLY oiled. No wd40. Not cleaning the savage bolt regularly - particularly with rimfires can lead to ftf. And the bottom metal is thin so quite literally finger tight with an allen key.

CZ's are nice rifles, but so are savages.

Savages sell well for one reason, the low price.

If the gun is clean and well-lubed, it likely needs to be broken in. Cycle the bolt 100x or so, clean, re-lube...you should be good.

Give it a good cleaning. When I bought mine there was still some metal shavings in the chamber and inside the bolt that caused a few light strikes from the firing pin.
