Default Wood Workers

I recently purchased a Savage 24. The only flaw is a small chip (3/8 by 1/8 inch) right where the stock meet the receiver along the left side. I am wanting to fill the chip with something to prevent it from getting larger. I would like it to be tacky enough to shape but able finish smooth.. any ideas

Photo is not the actually stock but the chip location and size is highlighted in blue

Thanks

Jb weld or bondo. Maybe a little bit of resin. Bunch of different things will work.Just be sure to clean up the mating surface before applying.

Colin.
