Go take a look at the Tikka and weatherby vanguard rifles and buy whatever feels best to you, my suggestion is 7-08. light recoil, accurate, and all the gun youll ever need on north america. top it off with good rings and nice scope. a nice vortex or leupold will do. then shoot it and love it. buy a 22 with a similar feel and shoot gophers with it all summer to refine your skills

.243 with a fixed 4 power tasco scope......that's where it all began for me. The 7mm-08 also a great option with more bullet choices but I like my classics.

They also have a laminated stock model - but more $$$.
Good choice throw on a 3-9 x 40 scope say Burris not too high end or low end and you will have a rifle for life.
