Do I need to register guns
So I might book to do a pal as it seems it is migratory for hunting. How many guns does it let me have and do i need to register them all? Can I buy as much ammo as I want if I get the pal or is it strictly controlled? I have found out that handguns and machine guns need restricted and cannot be hunted with. I want to get a sniper type rifle, but after I have done the right rules of course.
If I got the pal I think I would want at least 2 guns, so would I need to do more than one course?

How about we start with 2 questions. How old you are and what kind of experience do you have with firearms.

There's a PAL course and exam, an R-PAL course and exam, and a S-PAL one too. Get the PAL licence that corresponds to your proven skill set to operate a given class of firearms suited to your AO.
The S-PAL license, for sniper type firearms, is the hardest and most prestigious operator license to get. Applying ballistics knowledge and converting mil-dots to MOA SFP reticles on the fly in a high-pressure exam setting is huge memory work that fails the majority who apply. If you have the elite S-PAL, you are considered good to go on restricted handguns too.
I haven't heard of MG-PALs in Canada and don't think they'll be part of the government's proposed Firearms Act reforms that will be introduced this fall in Parliament.
Crossbows, you can buy what you want without a PAL license.

TV is fantasy. Do some browsing on this forum and others, pick up some magazines and read them. Soak up some real, useful info, and make an informed decision on firearms and your future. Contrary to television, a 12 gauge doesn't throw a human sized target 20 feet.

What do you think of the Huskemaw scope for sniper hunting? It's on TV.

It's ironic how that matches up with my response to his other thread.

Pretty much. Other than saying that a rifle used by a sniper is a sniper's rifle, the term really has no meaning. It's usually used by someone that watches too much of the tactical nonsense on television.

No worries. I'm new to the forum and been on CGN for years. Just found this recently. Just getting a feel for som of the sarcasm. The post drew me in due to the two VERY odd threads the OP started. Cheers.... And actually was amusing.

Thanks and welcome to the forum.
There are other folk here who compete at long range, and a few who hunt out there some - I am not one of them. AO's a great place to share stories and learn stuff.
