Weight Loss & Custom Fitting
So many hunters stay away from MR because of the posted weights of the bags
They are on the heavy side of the backpacking , but the way they hold weight
compared to some others , is second to none . I used a very popular bag on a hunt , and with 50lb I thought i was goin to leave it in the woods , when with the MR I'll walk all day .

Here is what I do to the bags to make them custom to me.
(Every bag is a little different as my likes n dislikes change)

1st ... Let's lighten up the fibre glass yoke

The 7/8 holes didn't lighten to the number I had in my head
(1/4 oz)

After twisting n bending the yoke (easy)
I decided it can handle more holes (3/8)

Only a sheep hunter would drill holes in a $700 pack to save a couple ounces.

Where the yoke goes, their is a size label and tab of 1"
To make it easier to remove the yoke , we don't need that

I don't have lots of bags for the MR frame , 1 bag 1 frame
So I can cut what's not needed for the style of bag for that frame

I go around the pack n burn any lose or tag end of any tread
If there is a long one I'll cut it down , after I burn I push it in with
My thumb to make it flat,

Take your hand , and jam it down behind the yoke holder
A couple long screw drivers will help break the Velcro grip
Now the yoke holder can be moved up and down
This will adjust the amount of weight on your hip & shoulders

Right now I adjusted it for more weight on my shoulders
Then hips to see if it helps with my knee
This part might need to be done a few times to dial in

I don't like how the centre strap between the shoulders moves
and it's location, for me I like 2 straps over one in this area
The extra hard wear can be found in the day pack or lid
We'll cut this up later .

I double up the line , and tie a double over hand knot
Pull each end of the line , to make sure you have a good knot
Then cut the tag end , burn tag ends into knot,

Take a piece of strap you just cut ,
clean it , run it under the reinforcing strap on the
shoulder strap, sew it to itself
