What kind of budget do you have? I run mb-750's but am a pretty casual wolf trapper, lays, #9's, anything big and solid is what you want but by the time you swivel and chain them up, start to get pretty pricey.

Spend the money. You'll waste it if you try to use a trap not made for Wolves.

I caught a Wolf in a #4 double long spring once. Near as I could tell it held him for about five minutes. The trap was no longer usable when he got done with it. Both springs were permanently compressed and one jaw was twisted so bad it would not stay in the frame.

A wolf can crush a Moose leg bone, it takes a stout trap to hold one.

I don't know what is on the legal list but I'd guess it would be a good place to start.
You can find in in the trapping regulations.

Like Keg said , get a good one ! I don,t know I would go as far as spending on a Lay trap , But again that is your decision.
Bob Beer in Erskine makes a pretty stout one and sounds like he has good customer results for a fair dollar. Alberta made and Bob is a picky trapper!

I agree. Bob makes a great trap. I used his traps exclusively for over 15 years and never lost a wolf.

Just my opinion but I would definitely stay away from the MB750's.

The MB750 comes in three different versions.
The MB750 Alaskan is the Wolf version, the other MB750s are not strong enough for Wolf trapping.

Yep, it's just a bit of a tweaked 750 beaver. Still won't use them. Like the old saying you get what you pay for.
