My dad's old box had both of those in them ... lol ......... prices were higher and had a tag RIBTOR SPORTS CALGARY with .39 cents for the snelled hooks - so it had to be from the late 70's.

Yours are older.

The monofilament will be brittle and probably useless as it will break.

Ah but monofilament can be replaced. I just thought it was a cool find.

There are 10 packages of the flies and they still have the tissue paper cover on all the packages.

Even the tacklebox they came in is old.

I remember using those!

They were common snelled hooks down south. used for making pickerel rigs for trout(make a couple loops in your main line and attach snells. The flies we used for whitefish(rocky and lake).

I believe I still have some kickin around too.

Looks like they are from the early 60s.
Mono was just starting to take over around that time.

Monofilament was invented by Dupont a little before WW2 but it didn't gain much interest until the late 50s.

The .19c price tag suggests to me that they were probably bought around 1964.

I doubt they have any collector value.

wasnt looking for collector value, I suspect the seller was the daughter or possible grand daughter of the original owner of the tackle box.
It was nice seeing that someone just didnt trash the items....... because they were old.

I pulled on the line on the flies, that didnt break but I managed to break a fly with the pliers.

snelled ryl coachmen were the staple of every good fisherkids tacklebox. I always got mine from Mowhawk, and good luck trying to find them during Rocky Mountain Whitefish month on the Sheep.
