Moved to Calgary a few days ago and been looking at places to get into the upper bow river around the Banff, Canmore area. I’ve been on the bow right within Canmore but it’s not too enjoyable for a guy like me who goes fishing to get out of the city. Anybody have any good access points? Send me a private message if you don’t want it public and I’ll give you my word not to share anything! I’ll even give you a few nice spots of my own if you want. Willing to hike and bush whack to get to the river. Please help this young guy get into the bow !!!
Once you're upstream of the Stoney Reserve, you can access the Bow just about anywhere - all the way to its source at Bow Lake ! From either the TransCanada, or the 1A, just park at any pull-over, and you'll find a trail leading to the rivers edge.

Some good access at the gov. campground at Dead Mans Flats...be aware big bear country..had a grizz wander through the campground when we were there several years ago.
Look on google maps satellite view and at Exshaw there is a road right down to the river and a parking lot. Just downstream of the parking area the Bow river narrows down and in the faster narrow part of the river can hold nice browns. In the past I always caught a few large browns there in spring. Should be good enough to try anytime of the year. Sort of a natural funnel there.
