Default Sunny Vacation Plans Amid Covid-19

Curious to know what people are doing about previously booked vacations to sunny destinations (Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba). It is Hard to know what is accurate information or what to believe in general but just wondering if anyone else is reconsidering travel plans due to the Covid-19 virus? I was thinking of booking something in the next day or two, but not sure if that is the right move or not.

We booked 3 weeks in Europe. London, Paris, Barcelona in April. We’re hoping by being diligent with hand washing and using hand sanitizer we’ll be fine.

I wouldn't get on a cruise ship right now, nor would I fly to China but outside of that not much to worry about.

Leaving at the beginning of March to St.Marten for two weeks. We will be taking some N95 masks with us just in case. Before heading to the airport, gonna eat a whole onion and a whole garlic bulb....Wife packed lots of meds “just in case”... Vodka every day for the prophylactic... Sun, sand and blue waters will take care of the rest, lol!

I wouldn't risk a foreign vacation right now if it were free. I don't believe anyone is telling the truth about what is actually happening right now. There is no way I would get on a plane and spend vacation rubbing elbows and hands with a thousand other people. Just my opinion, but count me out

That's pretty much how I feel. Just got back from a week in Cancun. No issues.

Also, as mentioned, the best defense is washing your hands often.

Still a fluid situation and unless you can see around corners it is hard to anticipate what pitfalls lie ahead.

But as everyone has mentioned-Cruise ships have certainly lost their lustre in this moment.

Chose prudently and have a back-up plan and a Go bag at the ready.
I think it is fair to question-How PREPARED are Mexico, Jamaica and Cuba if Covid 19 lands on their shores? What would be their response?

Headed for Huatulco Mexico for 2 weeks in 2 weeks. Not overly concerned. Wash hands, try to stay away from people that are coughing. Enjoy the sun and sea!

Just sitting in Sea-Tac en route to Edmonton after spending around a week in Singapore and close to two weeks in SW Australia. Will definitely be going back to both locations. With most if China shut down to travelling, Singapore was awesome as the airport traffic was down 70-80%. That made the city much quieter as well. Western Australia was great too, as we showed up a week after their summer vacation ended. Transit through Tokyo was also great due to the reduced airline traffic. I doubt that I’ll ever see Changi/Haneda/Narita that quiet again.

Default Just back from Bucerius Mexico

fun in the sun and I love playing in the warm ocean much more than soaking in a cool pool. Boogie boards will have to be an acquired skill as 3 of us got slam dunked by a rogue wave but it was fun. Sure there are risks to traveling but you could also get killed by a bus. 2 years in a row we prefer +28 to -28 and this year I didnt have to contend with 4 broken ribs.

You stand a better chance at a hockey game, or riding the C train then you would from air travel.
So far influenza killed more people in Canada alone then there are dead for this. Its the big media go buzz word for the month.

When going on a cruise make sure to pack an additional 21 day supply of Viagra in case you are quarantined

I'm not going down this rabbit hole either. Might want to reference your sources. It's not even close, by a huge factor. Like over 1500x your statement or more. Buzz factor away I guess. Then factor into the severity of the cases versus the very Common A or B type influenza, with a long history averaging 0.01% mortality rate. To each their own. Some people get what this is, some don't because it's NIMBY yet. Could not pay me to get on a cruise prison for the next 6 months, at least.

I can agree on the cruise ship thing, they are floating vessels of disease. Even on a good day they are gross and you take your chances.

I would think Mexico, Central and South America as well as the Carribean would be far enough away that Chinese tourists would be relatively uncommon. Most people tend to vacation where it's affordable to visit. I'd love to see Australia but have you looked at plane tickets to Melbourne?!?

Cheap right now. I was thinking I had to jet back to Alberta for a funeral. I looked and a round trip from Brisbane to Edmonton flying a week from now with five tickets was $4300 return. Luckily no funeral yet so I’m not flying. My wife wanted me to look for next September when the kids were out of school and we could visit the old country and five tickets were $4700 BNE to YEG return which is still very reasonable.

Other then that I can’t comment. It’s sun and fun here year round. It was a beach day today, yesterday we were into the tuna and mahi mahi.
