My daughter cleaned house at another tkd tournament
My 13 year old (whos now 5'9") did very well at her competition this past weekend.
She is signed up for Nationals and her training camp has started.
The time she devotes to training is insane and she loves every bit of it.
Shes in red then switches to blue. Can easily tell who my kid is lol

Hopefully, she will remain motivated as that “teen” stuff kicks in. I taught Karate lots of years so know the attrition rate is pretty high because “getting good” requires a big commitment over a long time.

Good for her it should keep her busy and in good shape. If she enjoys the competitive aspect keep supporting her because if keeping fit for competition becomes a priority it can help keep her out of trouble
My son took the path of sports and kick boxing. In my opinion his drive to stay fit for competition helped him stay away from drugs and excessive drinking when the temptation cam around
Congrats to your daughter

Her height and balance is a big advantage I would think. She got some good reach on those kicks. Congrats on her win. Hope she will excel in the Nationals as I'm pretty sure she will in life. Lucky DAD you are.

Hahaha…your post brought a memory from way back in my brain archives, or where thoughts go to prison, When I lived in Inuvik back 35sum years ago, I took Karate there, but I came with a good judo background as well. So my memory was, I used to go around the McKenzie Inn (Zoo) kicking hats off peoples heads without touching their nose for a whiskey if I did it or if I didn’t I would have to buy him or Her a drink…I could easily do it to about 6ft 4 inch’s off a head, as long as they didn’t move of course….sorry no derail intended, just another memory outa nowhere…

She trains 5-6 days a week and also comes to muay thai/mma with me. She is devoted to TKD. She will be travelling the world in 2023 competing as she was one of a very select few offered the opportunity.
She just got back from a fight camp in Ottawa. And just tonight was sent info for prequalification for Paris 2024 Olympics

Good for her man. She’s picked something she loves and committed. She’s going to succeed in anything she chooses.

She's learning the value of training & emotion control. So good for her. Way to support her passion. Well done!
