Default Displaying an old shotgun...legalities

In order to display an old fireman in your house do you have to have the firing pins removed by a gunsmith or can you just grind them down or remove them yourself? Any input is appreciated by those who have down this.

Ignore references to registration, but these are the regulations.

Displaying a firearm and deactivating a firearm are apples and oranges. Deactivation modifies a firearm so that it is no longer considered to be a firearm and it must be done just as elk provided.

A wall hangar firearm need not be deactivated. A firearm may be stored/displayed on a wall, in a corner, without deactivation. Check the "Storing, Transporting and Displaying Firearms" regulations.

Display of Non-Restricted Firearms
An individual may display a non-restricted firearm only if it

(a) is unloaded;

(b) is rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device or is in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and

(c) is not displayed with and is not readily accessible to ammunition that can be discharged from it.

Would a living room in a locked house qualify?? I'm guessing not. I could put a trigger lock on it, but I was hoping to avoid that.

Thanks elk and cnp
