Default Drying your Brass

For all of you that use ultrasonic cleaners how do you dry your brass? I have tried a few different methods. Some suggest putting them in the oven to heat dry them. I have heard people use hair dryers. What do you guys do?

While I don’t use an ultrasonic, after I’m done wet tumbling I rinse the brass in warm water and roll them around in a towel and then put them on another towel that’s lining an aluminum pan. Then into the oven at 175F for 2 hours.

I use an old food dehydrator and I have put them over the furnace vents too.

I just took an old piece of lumber and drove in a bunch of finishing nails then just stand the brass on the nail seems to works OK takes a little longer but it is cheap and no worries about over annealing or any thing.

Mine get air dried usually over night. After a quick blow into the primer pocket, they get laid on a cookie sheet with the necks down.

I'm not a firm believer in using heat to dry brass (tends to discolour it).

Patience is a virtue.

Salt Bath annealing Chuck?

Wash and rinse lube off in a ice cream pail pour out in a screen strainer, then in an old bath towel folded in half length wise , fold over grab each end and slide them back and forth in a side to side motion to get excess moisture off.
Out in the sunshine during summer in an old aluminum colander or in the Bar-B-Q in the sun ,that black cover lid acts like an oven.Heat vent in the winter

My friend suggested the oven idea, I don’t think I’ve tried it but I roll the brass around in a town when they come out of the cleaner. Then I take them and put them on paper towel on a baking sheet and put them on my dining table under the ceiling fan blowing on them over night. Check and reload them in the morning.

I tried blowing them out with an air compressor but there was condensation in the line (don’t have my big compressor with water filter wired up yet). I blew them out, brought them in and primed them, went to bed, woke up and reloaded then when I went and shot the primers didn’t pop. Figured moisture ran down into the primers and they wouldn’t go bang. Live and learn, compressor may work if you let them air out still.

I picked up an old food dehydrator at value village for 5 bucks. It's done easily 10,000 rifle brass and still going strong. I've heard of the oven idea but it leaves water Mark's and tarnish if you dont dry them with a towel first

Drying box.
Same length and width as a furnace vent. About 2 inches high.
Made from a scrap of fence board and some wire mesh.
Stand the brass inside the box.
In summer, leave it in the sun.
In winter, place it on a furnace vent.
