Shot one and lost it when it flew off the side of a mountain the morning of May 2nd. Heading back the end of the month, hopefully I can still call a Tom in then.

Sorry, maybe a naive question but as I've never hunted or even really looked into hunting them I have no idea. Where do you aim with archery tackle on a turkey?
Thanks.

Judging from the background, you got him at a pretty high elevation, I would say.

There are a couple options for archery kill shots. There are the head/neck type shots, or you can go with more of a traditional heart/lung shot. It seems like the main thing is to keep your arrow high on the bird. I am far from a turkey expert, but this guy only flopped about 2 yards before he was done.

Congrats to both of you on a sucessful hunt. It is tough to hunt them in AB, and I'm glad you could fill your tags. Quite a wait to get one.

The wait is a long one now..but no harder than anywhere else. Not as many birds as some other places but as long as you put in the effort and dedication it works out just fine.

Shot mine last friday on a solo deal. Scouted Thursday night and put a couple small groups to bed. Next morning at first light I put an arrow over ones back so I got a bit discouraged. 2 hours later I called in 5 jakes and a Tom and scatter gunned him at not more than 30 yards. I wish I would have kept trying with the bow but oh well, im happy.

Got mine Thursday morning after a few hard days of work.
I went out with gobbler fanatic, after connecting with him on this forum.
I can't say enough about what great, kind, stand up guy he is. It was the hunt of a lifetime for me. It was a 3200km blur of a round trip, and I would give just about anything to do it again!!
