I don’t know, it’s my first elk tag too but I’m assuming that you get your tags through a license issuer or Alberta relm.
MyWildAlerta has some information about the requirements for it.

Didn't get my 346 early antlered moose which was a surprise considering its archery only this year. Wonder how many guys put in and got drawn not knowing it was archery only?

I'm not 100% sure but I think they took away the general antlered moose archery season for 346.

What do you mean archery only? It’s all draw... and if drawn you can hunt early with a bow or later with the rifle... no archery only season there anymore.

Thats a bummer. I see alot of moose in that zone the last couple years. I don't think archery hunters were making that big of an impact and they didn't give out anymore draw tags.

346 sept 24th to October 31 draw is archery only this year and there is no general archery season Thats my understanding

The archery only season, that was OTC for moose... has been closest. You MUST have a draw... It’s a split season draw zone now with an early and a late season draw code.

If you are being serious I’m pretty sure you still have to pull the tag and go. If You can’t get a trip in even just for the one day. If you don’t buy the tag you will still go to 0 priority

The way things a shaping up south of the 49th and not even second wave yet doubt well have any Non Resident alien hunters this year Outfitters are going to be hurting.

Late season cow elk for the wife- should be an easy hunt. They’re tame that time of year lol. Nothing for me (expected that).
So:
Chasing sheep on the opener
Kill an elk
Get my son on a couple waterfowl shoots (he’s 11- next year will be awesome)
Filter through northern whitetails and maybe shoot one if it’s decent
Arrow a Strathcona whitey on private land not far out my door
Arrow a Strathcona bull Moose (Fort Mac moose next year)
Maybe a fat fall bear for the smoker
Accompany wifey for some tasty cow meat
In addition to some waterfowl and pheasant shoots.
I love the fall

Wondering if there's a way we can petition RELM to post the number of priority only draws by priority in each draw, just to know what we're up against every year. This is the second year in a row that me or my family have been stymied by higher priority applicants jumping in. Not against the priority only system, just would like to get a better idea of what's going on.

That is exactly how the priority only (former 999) was designed. Build priority until you want to pull the tag. You can wait until you're ready to pull it. I personally could have pull 4 tags this year but I only pull 1 a year and spread them out.
Also, if you go to Alberta Realm, then to draw summaries, then current season, then pick your animal, it will show you exactly how many people did put in for priority only.
Everything you're asking for is already there, no petition needed

I had a P5 and only took a P3 or so, but not sure I can get home from Aus any earlier.
