You can buy a new Timney trigger for the X-Bolt. I don't believe it will accept the junky little bolt lock but it is designed for the rifle and works well. Most any rifle is going to need some personal modification out of the box and if one considers that from the start it is no big deal.

I would put any Remington heavy barrel target gun up against a tikka, regardless of when it was built.

The X Mark is garbage, they often don't adjust below 4 lbs, before the adjustment screw falls out. Some go lower, but slam fire, and are not safe. That is why most serious shooters toss them in the garbage, where they simply adjusted the older 700 triggers. Back in the 70s and 80s, my range guns were 700 varmint models, but after owning two more recent Sendero rifles that did not shoot as well, I switched to Tikka. All of the newer Remington firearms appear to be suffering as far as quality control, some are okay, but too many have issues, compared to 20 or 30 years ago. Most are not as bad as the crap Remington sold under the Marlin name when they first moved the production of Marlin rifles, but overall, the quality has suffered. There just isn't much available in the $1500 and under range that has a good trigger, and that doesn't have a plastic stock. Then again, even though many people don't like the plastic stocks, they do produce good accuracy.

Real gunsmiths can get a Remington trigger to under 3 lbs no issues.
A 1500$ plastic stocked rifle is a rip off. Period.
Handle a model 70 coyote light, its twice the rifle compared to a tikka imo.

I had a white gold medallion in a 300wsm some factory ammo I had issues closing the bolt and it kicked like a angry mule. I suspect it had chamber issues a coworker of mine also had one and sent it back to the factory or where ever the do there warranty work. He had a burr where the shoulder of the bullet seated that split some casings when fired.

I make no bones about it, I am not an X bolt fan.
Personally I feel that Browning hasn’t put a decent centerfire bolt gun on the market since the early to mid ‘80’s.
That’s all I’ve got to say on it, my likes and dislikes are personal, you know like whether you prefer blondes or brunettes, or red heads.
But!
Watching members here snipe, parry, and otherwise diminish themselves by picking fly scat outta pepper, is beyond compare.
Like what ya like, and move on.

I like brunettes!!
Exactly like Dick284 said the best rifle is the one that fits you the best the best cartridge is the one you shoot the straightest. I liked the Browning I had I like my Remington700 ( after I had the trigger changed out due to it firing when I released the safety a few times on me ) and I love my Winchester model 70’s.

Timney trigger for xbolt
MidwayUSA had them on for 157 USD and direct from timney is only 174. but with how much fun shipping gun parts across the border is and a 1.33 exchange rate I looked in Canada. Al Flaherty has them at 229 with free shipping so I will no longer have any complaints about my xbolt if it can adjust to 1.5 pounds. On its way according to the email confirmation.

Just put in a spring from MCarbo, dropped X-Bolt trigger pull from 3.75lbs to 2.5lbs and can go lower. All for about $25 US delivered.

I have 2 x-bolts. Both in WSM chamberings. One is stainless and fluted with the carbon fiber stock. Both shoot better than I do, and I get sub-moa groups regularly. They are light, absorb recoil well, and are accurate. Both have taken multiple animals including a few bull elk. I like’em.

I have had a 7mm Rem Mag Medallion for the last 2 seasons. No complaints about anything, though the deer might have different opinions . I was fortunate in the fact I bought it used and the previous owner had the trigger adjusted already. Breaks like glass love it.
