Default Elk Hunting in WMU 400

Does anyone have any opinions for or against? I bowhunt, so am wondering what the competition is like once the general season opens.

Default what PB said!

Lots of elk, way in the back-country, but like PB said, theres a grizz in every valley that seems to have been trained to the sound of an elk call. If your just using pointy sticks, you might wanna invest in bear spray in bulk. (A one-legged hunting partner might work for an alternative too)

Because of the amount of crown land in 400, it gets hunted heavily.

400 is all crown land. I think there is less elk than there used to be, but alot more grizzly. But little compitition in bow season, it can be pretty good. But honestly probably better in the porkypines, but all depends on where ya are at.

Better off to take some horses deep into 402 if you want general elk
