Default outcast pontoon boat

I bought a outcast pac 900 pontoon boat and a minkota electric motor on Saturday. Took them to the lake on Sunday. What a pain to operate the electric motor with the handle in the middle of my back. I went to a local manufacturing shop today to see about moving or replacing the motor mount. $150.00 Thought that was a little steep. Any suggestions? Also I bought a hummingbird 175 portable fish finder. How and where would I mount the transducer? Thanks Rod

If motor has reverse, use it and steer with a paddle. This is the only way aside from modifying I have found. Some guys have put motor mount in front of them, or they'll even put flippers on to steer with. I don't mind having one hand on paddle and one on rod.

Fishergrrl suggested i spend a tiny bit of cash and put a swivel seat on mine. My buddy has a swivel and i was like " you mother " as he went by me sideways smiling

I hooked up a rope and pulley system to mine. Steer it with the ropes but still have to reach back to operate speed. Worked really well for me.

check out the thread called tricked out pontoon boat. I made a steering rod to steer myself with and a toggle switch for power on/off running a 30lb thrust minnkota. flippers are still a must have. mounted transducer under the seat so it can be put into water or tucked up underneath when traveling, mounted battery behind the seat so I still can use my rear deck, two cleats on deck to hold 60' of rope. I love my outcast pac800, one day I would like to upgrade to a 900. pm me if you want building directions for anything.

Pick up a seat swivel from either the fishin hole or wss. Only mod you need. Can steer, adjust your power setting and keep your rod in hand all at the same time. I put a seat swivel on my after my first time out on my pontoon and the difference is night and day. You won't regret it.
