Default Leather from hides

Has anyone gotten a hide done from a hunt (moose, elk, etc.) into leather? If so how was it and where’d you get it done? How much was it?

I got Edmonton fur Tanner's to do my moose from 2017. I'm pretty sure it was around $250. Leather turned out great, nice and soft!

I do my own, it’s free but you’re better off paying someone else to do that much work.

The guy could only do half a moose hide at a time.It cost $240 for two moose hides. He also tanned a six foot bear for me for $200. I made a set of chaps out of the bear hide.

Wife gets lots hides done as she makes moccasins. Halfords stopped tanning hides ( they shipped them elsewhere anyways) Edmonton Fur Tanners 12403 67th st edmonton do a great job. Price is by sq.foot I believe its $7 a sq ft Average moose hide costs about $180 to $200 but its size dependant. Leather is soft but finish is dependant on your fleshing abilities and how you looked after hide. If you let it sit hair on a few days prior to freezing or salting it can stain/mark the hide. I believe they accept hides till end of January and you wont get it back til following Sept/ October timeframe. recommend them

I had a couple of deer hides turned into leather by a company in Edmonton, Western Fur and Tannery(?). Twenty years ago it cost $35 plus shipping.
