finished with mrx load development
I finally got to finish with my 140gr mrx load development with my 7mmstw.My best group was .490" with the worst group .950"(likely some operator error),with the average about .650".I chronographed three shots and the velocities were amazingly consistent at 3494fps,3492fps,3494fps at 20 feet from the muzzle at 15 degrees C.Now it's just a matter of loading some rounds up and doing a final sight in,as the point of impact is about 1-1/4" to the left of my 140gr ballistic tip load.Hopefully this fall,I will be able to report the mrx performance on game.

Sounds like a winner Stubblejumper. Did you make a full recovery from the eye surgery you had last year? If I remember correctly you were forced to miss out on a fair bit of last year's season.

I am using 80gr of imr 7828,federal 215 primers, remington cases. The barrel is by schneider and is 26" long.As for the eye,I missed the entire season last year, but will be hunting again next month. My vision isn't perfect, and I will be relying more on my optics, but I am very much looking forward to being out in the field again.

Did you do any long distance shooting and compare if it shot much flatter at the long ranges? It sounds like you have a great load there and can't wait till you knock a few critters down with it.

I haven't tried the trajectory at longer distances yet,as I just finished finalizing the load today.Once I load up some more rounds,I will try them out to 500 yards. However talking with other people that use the mrx, they don't shoot as flat as the ballistic tip.The grooves apparently lower the BC.Supposedly they are comparable to the partition.I will know for sure when I test them for myself.
