If you don't mind making a road trip 102 has some massive Mule Deer.

The biggest mule deer I have seen are hiding in coulees in southern Alberta with a good water source near by and agriculture. Yes this includes a lot of WMUs but all will hold mature deer. It’s a matter of getting drawn, scouting and getting permission on the land that hold the buck you are looking for

Getting permission to hunt on the right land is going to be the big one. The WMU can hold giants but if you can only stare at them from the fence it’s not much of a hunt

WMU 999 has big mulies, that why the priority is so high. Ive yet to know anyone who has drawn that tag.

Yes And you don't need any priority. Leave your gun at home too.

Really? Nothing I've seen has impressed me. Rather disappointing. Maybe we've just looked in the wrong spots.

Most WMU's probably have the odd massive buck somewhere in them but they aren't behind every tree. Lots of guys hunt hard for a lifetime and never see one.

I don't think the ones already on the wall count.

It's such a shame what 102 has turned into.

Big Mulie, Big Elk, Big Moose..... their all the same now.

Forget about picking a wmu to find a Big buck or bull.
Find the animal then draw for the unit he lives in.

A decent hunter can kill a pretty good Mule Deer in 102 no problem.
It's where you kill it and how much work your prepared to do in some situations because of mostly walk only

CWD has reached the Red Deer river North of Drumheller. There will be less mature bucks in 158, 208 etc.

Where did you end up putting in your draw??

In my opinion, there are quite a few zones (100's, 200's, some 300's) in the central/south that will produce 1 or maybe even a couple of gross 200" mule deer every year... Just have to put in the time and get lucky to get a chance at one.

I know one zone in the 300's that gives out several hundred tags every year where I received pictures of deer killed in 2019 and the 2020 season that both grossed over 200" of total antler. I did get a live look of the the one deer in 2019, it was impressive to watch him for a morning!
