Typically it lasts 8 to 10 games?

If so, guess we'll see. Although, the coming stretch may not be a fair evaluation, 3 of those 4 teams are pretty good.

The puck was clearly well across the line. You can't win in this league scoring 1 goal anyways.....

I don't see any reason to read into it beyond that. I thought he was having a decent game.
For clarity

For a bench minor, the player serving the penalty must have been on the ice at the time of the infraction.

From Rule 26
Quote:
A "BENCH MINOR" penalty involves the removal from the ice of one player of the Team against which the penalty is assessed for a period of two (2) minutes. Any player except a goalkeeper of the Team may be designated to serve the penalty by the Manager or Coach through the playing Captain and such player shall take his place on the penalty bench promptly and serve the penalty as if it was a minor penalty imposed upon him.
For a minor penalty to a goalie, the player serving the penalty must have been on the ice at the time of the infraction.

From Rule 27
Quote:
27.1 Minor Penalty to Goalkeeper – A goalkeeper shall not be sent to the
penalty bench for an offense which incurs a minor penalty, but instead, the minor penalty shall be served by another member of his team who was on the ice when the offense was committed. This
player is to be designated by the Manager or Coach of the offending team through the playing Captain and such substitute shall not be changed.
For a major and a misconduct, such as happened last night, you are not even required to put a player in the box to serve the major. Some coaches will wait for a few minutes of the major penalty to have expired before putting a player into the box. The player that goes into the box does not have to have been on the ice when the penalty was called.

From Rule 28
Quote:
When a player receives a major penalty and a misconduct penalty at the same time, the penalized Team shall place a substitute player on the penalty bench before the major penalty expires and no replacement for the penalized player shall be permitted to enter the game except from the penalty bench.
There have been a few instances this year (one involving Quenville and the Blackhawks) where the team opted to not put a player in the penalty box to serve the major. The plan was to wait for a stoppage in play close to the end of the major penalty and then put a player in the box. As luck would have it, there was no stoppage in play, thus no player in the box and the teams had to kill a penalty that lasted longer than 5 minutes.

It's all in here.

Thanks for looking up the rules that I was too lazy to look up lol.

I guess Hitch just figured Lucic was the guy then. Kind of a sting for Looch. I could be completely wrong, but I still don't think there's too much to be read into it, he's never used on the PK.

I've seen this on several of these close calls on the goal line. The more they zoom in, the less precise the image appears.

I've wondered if the NHL has some methods/views that viewers are unaware of.
Perhaps a fine line that extends from the the back of one goalpost to the back of the other that gets superimposed on the camera's view. I dunno, just spit ballin'.
Agreed. They need to have some better painters tape. The red paint slowly fades in with the white. Hard to get a nice clean cut, I guess. It's almost as if they asked themselves "do we still see any blue at all? Any shading at all?"

Well, it's history now.

What did they do in Howe’s era with no video replay or social media to bitch about it? Lol

We've have to start out STRONG, we've got to play a full 60 minutes, we can't take selfish pennertees and on and on and on

Well last go round Flames beat them 7-2...how did the Oilers do the next night against the Blues? Hmmm.

But best of luck to the oilers tonight against Tampa. Hope it's a good game.

I'm surprised that when they broadcast these Oiler games they don't talk about McDavid more, or show him sitting on the bench, or put up some of his stats.
Crazy
