I know theres only a few areas that hold goldens, can anyone tell me where abouts to head that would render a half decent chance of catchin one in a couple days of fishing

Michelle and Coral lakes out west of Nordegg are the only two places I know of that hold these in Alberta although I'm sure there must be a couple others around. Both are a good hike in (or chopper if you got the bucks). For me it's gonna have to be shanks mare in.

There are 5 lakes in the Crowsnest Pass area that have them. Barnaby, southfork and a few more. You have to hike in to get to them though. If you are interested contact Vic Bergman at Crowsnest Angler and he can direct you to the trailhead. We tried to go this summer but could not find the trailhead in time to make the hike worthwhile.

Barnaby ridge is a good hike, you start off getting wet crossing a stream, you climb, you see bear poop, it gets windy, the view from up top is awesome and for me the fish didn't bite. All in all a great day, worth a repeat. I hear Rainy ridge is an easier hike.

Barnaby's supposed to be the easiest hike and Rainy Ridge is supposed to have the best fishing. My brothers hiked around there before, he didn't get to fish as they were rained out but its beautiful country. I've never got to go all the way up, weather has thwarted a few attempts and other days the fishing on the Crowsnest was simply too good. Watch out for grizzlies!! I know theres only 500 left in Alberta

but a good friend of mine has seen up to six grizz along the berry patches out that way in a single afternoon and sees at least one almost every trip up. I'm going to give it another whirl next summer, hopefully spend a few days and try a few hike in fisheries in the area.
