Tell me all about legends
So i signed up as i lurked but now need some advice.
So i just started fishing and im looking at catching my first fish. I have always loved the river (nsr) so wanted to put my time in that.
So far i have been fishing mostly at legands...and there is a lot of fish coming out.... but not 1 for me. I have fished 5-6 hours a day for 10 days. Guess what? Not 1 bite. Thats 60 hours with not a bite....
I have seen around 20+ fish come out over these 10 days, but again not a bite from me. Best part is i always ask what rig/bait and they, typically, they were all using the same rig and bait as me, yet im the only one not fishing.
Im using:
Medium heavy rod
20lb main line
10lb leader
Sliding sinker rig
Sinker - pyramid 4oz or cannon ball 2oz
Bait - fake gulp minows. Dew works, real dead minnows
Its so frustrating its getting to me... it seems no matter what i cant get a bite.. yet everyone around me on the same set up are having great days.
So please, tell me everything you know about legends.

In flowing water, it's all about where you place your rig. Fish don't work harder than they have to for food, so they want a deep hole with a slow current where the food just drifts in to them. If not that, they like a sheltered spot behind a log or rock where they can nab a meal as it goes by.
Just because you are casting in the same general area as the other fishermen doesn't mean you are fishing the same hole. You have to learn to read the current and understand what underwater structure creates the waves and ripples and eddies you are seeing on the surface. Don't just sit and wait for a bite, study the water. Look at where the others are casting and where their rigs end up after the current has taken it downstream.
The most frustrating and rewarding thing about fishing is that you will never master it. There is always something new to learn. Keep at it. Good luck.
One final thing: as a 30 year NSR fisher, I suggest tossing those fake minnows out. Real minnows will catch almost everything the river has to offer, from mooneye to sturgeon, though worms and leeches have their days as well.

You don't say what your target species is, so it's hard to give much help on the rig.

Depends how far west, there are a few places, whitemud creek might work or the north side of the Devon bridge maybe?

Keep your rod tip up and your line taught at all times.
Maybe change it up to a pickerel rig, two hooks double your chances. Minnow on one hook, leaches or worms on the other.

That spot is called The Keyhole
I avoid the Keyhole like the plague, its WAY to tracked out and busy & seems every idiot with a loud stereo likes to go there. Someone caught some skid rummaging through his truck as he was fishing 20 feet away last time I was there years ago, didn't go so well for the would be thief.
OP, check your PM's
