Default Thanks Waterninja. They got eye appeal!!!

I had Waterninja use his skills and make me a bunch of marten boxes for next year. They are solid boxes and should work well. I put a dozen of them out last week so they are ready to rock next season in some areas I hope will produce well. He also makes some really nice weasel boxes as well with sliding tops on them.
Thanks Ernest
Will take some pics next year with some catches in them hopefully.

I figure with the bright colours I should be able to double my marten production. At least I can find them in the dark now

Nube what is the real reason for the bright colors, I have thought about painting my wood boxes to protect them from the rain/weathering. Also most animals have a "curious george" nature so wondered in past if it would act like a scent lure to bring them close to the box.

Left over wood he had and they were painted those colours lol But I also think that animals are curious and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if critters come check it out. I think I have heard in the past of guys using red onion bags as bait holders and hanging out the backside of their boxes to attract critters.....

I have a trapper friend/mentor who believes marten are attracted to the colour red. I think any thing out of the norm draws some critters in just out of curiosity!

OMG. I can't believe I didn't see this thread earlier. Yeh, the reason they are painted is because I had salvaged a pile of 3/4" plywood that was already painted. I hate using recycled wood normally, but I'm glad I could put it to some good use.
I'm gald your happy with them phil, but don't expect them to be painted in the future. lol

I don't expect much bud!! Just glad I got to hang them already for next season. They are all in new areas so I really hope they produce well. They are well made and I think for the price they are well worth it
