Question North Saskatchewan River

is it safe to drop a 12 foot aluminum boat and float down the river ? What should i expect along the way

we usually drop our 12ft alum in at the valley zoo and float to 50st in edmonton.couple shallow spots i have to lift my 10hp motor.other than that enjoy the ride.

For the distance you plan to go you'll be find with that setup. Go with the flow and just use the electric to steer yourself around. Keep your motor lifted as high as is reasonable and keep an eye out for shallow spots just in case...I don't know the stretch you're planning to take, but I do know the river has some surprises.

edit: don't know what your plan is, but it wouldn't hurt to spend some time dragging a bottom bouncer along while you're drifting

i was thinking about dropping the boat in on the F.T.R float from there down . is this a crazy idea ? and fish some deep pools along the way

Lots of skinny water near the Royal Glenora club and high level bridge area. Other then that a few shallow spots here and there. As for the fishing that stretch can be pretty dead but is better up river or down river outside the city...

I hooked two pigs right underneath high level bridge. Which is by the glenora on the fly, never got a look at them, but they were peeling line like crazy.
