Default Battle River

Everytime I drive to edmonton on the QE2 I cross this river called battle river. A few people have told me that it has some pikes in it, but it doesn't look that good to me. Anybody know if it's worth a try

It has both pike and walleye, or at least that's what the Regs tell me. I fish Battle Lake and have caught both there, but I haven't had a chance in the river yet. The lake has been slow for me since mid-July, for what its worth.

Years ago, the river out by Hardisty produced some 12 and 14 lb. walleyes.

Where you cross it on the QE2 isn't worth your time. Try further east from about Camrose to the AB/Sask border and you will have better luck.

Should be good in that stretch. Especially where it dumps into the NSR. I have never fished it here nor do I intend to, so I never went hunting to see if there is even access to this point.

I've pulled many many pike out of the battle, several over 10lbs. And they are very aggressive, pretty easy to catch. But all my favorite spots are flooded out and inaccessible this year.

Me too. I always enjoy fishing this river. Can be frustrating at times. My favorite spots seemed to fair ok this year as far as the flooding goes.

Never had any success around Ponoka. The stretch I have fished in that area had about as much structure as my front sidewalk lol.
