Default Whats a good 12g saboted slug?

I've just purchased a 20" rifled 870 barrel and am doing some research on which to buy. I've narrowed it down to the SSt or the Winchester partition Gold, what are your guys thoughts? Thanx for the info

Try them both. See what it like to shoot. Might even like the cheapest stuff.

the winchester platinums are good. 400gr. hollowpoint. just aim for the center of mass!

Lyman 525 gr. Sabot Slug. Looks like a huge wadcutter pellet for an air rifle.

I read somewhere that the Winchester "Platinum Slug" is reall a renamed black talon bullet design. I have a box or two, but am saving them for a shotgun deer hunt, too pricey to just flail away on a range, other than initial sight in before season.

Defintely pricey stuff. I'd shoot it pretty rarely, mainly just for Strathcona deer hunting and maybe the odd bear hunt in thick brush.

I've had consistent results out of the same barrel with the Federal Sabot slugs. Just killed 5 wild boar using them a couple of weeks ago.

Winchester BRI slugs work pretty well. Bass Pro had them. One of the cheaper sabots too.

BRI's eh? I might have to do a little research. And yes DuckBrat we all heard and saw your slaying of the onrushing pigs! You're half the reason i bought the barrel anyways
