Default Temperature correction formula???

Trying to figure out corrections for large amounts of liquids.... So hard to find answers....

Hmmm never helped. More confused.


How much volume is lost going from 0c to -30c in base oil?

We'll I believe your missing a thesis element into this equation and that is pressure. Once you know the pressure then you can determine or at least begin to determine your volume loss/gain. Boyles law has relevance to what your looking for. If it's atmospheric pressure or nt in a vessel then it's a little different. You need to know the existing volume and work with that. Gases are easier to determine then liquids but it's doable. Charles law also states the correlation V/T=K. Kid constant. Anyways good luck

Long time since I looked at thermodynamics and this could be wrong, but according to Wikipedia:
"Theoretically, the coefficient of linear expansion can be found from the coefficient of volumetric expansion (αV ≈ 3α). However, for liquids, α is calculated through the experimental determination of αV."
In other words trying to find published tables for expansion etc for the required liquid will be your best bet... I think.... maybe... but good luck!

Approximately 2.1% for engine oil if pressure is constant.
