Well that all depends on their level of co-ordination.
You don`t want to disrupt the enjoyment of the oversight process by trips to the Emergancy room.
After many years and many dummy kids I would go straight to the hydraulic splitter. It still requires a teen monkey or two and it is safer than an axe.I`d rather pick up the occasional finger than a foot.
And you still get to sit in the chair and tell them how easy they got it nowadays as compared when you were their age.

If that axe is any good, I will be purchasing the Chinese knockoff.

Anyone see a patent?

The way it "rang" when it was thrown sure sounded dry any way.

Could probably make one, with a little welding.

One problem I see (possibly) is by the design of it, it won't split a big wet block (thank goodness that didn't get autocorrected!) very well as it will hit the "finger" before it goes very deep.

my present to AO wood spliters

step 1 ... get axe n spliting block (big chunck of wood)
step 2.....put the wood to be split on the block
step 3.... swing axe into the centre of the wood

this is where it starts getting good

step 4.... lift the axe (with the wood stuck to it) above your head as if the wood wasnt there
step 5.... flip axe so the wood is on on top
step 6... swing the axe so the back hits the spliting block....

your welcome
