Hotels in Edmonton around Commonwealth Stadium
So my partner purchased us tickets for the Labor Day concert, going to be a great time and concert... Last time in Commonwealth was the U2 concert so it has been a while. Looking for recommendations on accommodations near the stadium.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone !

Stay downtown. Take LRT to Stadium.
The Matrix Hotel. 106st south of Jasper.
Corona LRT is a block away. Walk to it, get off at the stadium.
The Stadium is a drag area. You will be glad to leave after the concert.

Simply downtown and LRT. Don’t even bother with anything else.

FYI, Mötley Crüe/Def Leppard/Poison/Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are playing Sept 4 at Commonwealth Stadium. Now there's a rocker.

Even downtown is getting pretty bad. I would sure hate to walk around there after dark. I just walked 3 blocks to get my lunch and got asked for money 4 times, saw 6 people smoking crack, couple of belligerent drunks and someone getting arrested all right on Jasper Ave at 12:30.

Downtown and Uber. I wouldn’t get on the LRT if you paid me, nor walk/drive in that area after dark.

I usually stay at the coast plaza hotel.
Nice rooms and often see sports teams staying there. I would imagine some of the bands might stay there as well.

I was thinking that but it will probably be impossible to grab an Uber after the concert. Does anyone know if you can still pay to park at Norwood school or any churches around the stadium?

The LRT has become pretty sketchy, especially when it is quieter but before and after the concert you will have no issues at all. Lots of people, lots of security. Before Covid I would have said stay downtown, I used to a lot when I didn't live in Edmonton and came to town on business. Usually stayed at the Hotel McDonald, or Marriot Court Yard because I like the River views.
Now, that area and all of downtown has changed a whole bunch. If I was coming to town for a concert, I would pick a hotel NOT in downtown unless I was taking a Cab back and forth as the downtown LRT is underground and not well patroled, NOT near the Stadium and close to the LRT line or on a bus route. I can't recommend a hotel as I never stayed at any that weren't downtown. If you want to use a car, book an actual taxicab for the ride down and back, a week in advance and verify the booking the day before. UBER charges ridiculous extra fees for busy periods, Cab fare stays the same no matter what. From experience a month ago, Edmonton Cab fare is very close to the same as UBER, even at UBER's lowest fare range. Took an Uber from a shop home and a cab from home back to the shop. Fare was within a buck.
I used to used Prestige Limo Service when I was in town. Used the same driver for years but he has now retired. Their prices are close to Cab rates, clean, high end large cars like Lincolns, professional drivers, always there when they are supposed to be. They will book pickup time at hotel, at stadium at airport etc.

I wouldn’t count on it. If I were going, after the concert, I would walk to Tony’s Pizza, order one to go. Call an Uber and eat good pizza on way home. What a great concert that’s gonna be.

That is a great suggestion. . Have Prestige drop you at the concert and have them pick you up at Tony's afterwards. It truly is outstanding pizza, about a 3 block walk east from the Stadium.

Maybe you and I should get some ducats off scalpers and buy a bag of weed. We can bang heads, mosh like hell, and even crowd surf. Then we eat pizza! You in????
