Default New to hunting

Hey there! I was referred to this forum by a friend of mine, as one of the most informative and newbie friendly sites. From what I have read, that is very true. I am new to hunting in the Edmonton area(basically new to hunting in gerenal), and was wondering if there is an area where I would be able to go within a couple hours to hunt white tail deer. I am having a hard time determining where I can and cannot hunt. Is there a crown land/title map available? I looked forever with no luck. I would appreciate any information on locations, maps or tips, and thanks in advance!

I am also interested to join a group or anyone who is looking for a hunting partner.

Cheers.

Default whitecourt

go to whitecourt
go thru whitecourt
past the swan hills highway # 33
look for a road cutting back at 30 degrees on your right
its called the chikadee road and if you follow it thru it marries up with the virginia hills road. which will connect you back to hwy 43
I have taken lots of deer outta there over the years

Check out maptown.com. You can buy maps of nearly anything there, landowners maps and county maps included.

Some of the county maps are available on line for free. You can also look at google earth to get a good idea of where private land transitions to lease land and crown land.

ASB064,

Welcome to the forums.
Here is a site you should check out. It has lots of properties you can check out.

you shouldn't have to go more than a half hour from your location to hunt.

Good luck and being that you are new to hunting, never be afraid to ask questions here.

Join Fish and Game assoc.. A good place to meet like minded people.

Also...check out the looking for a partner thread in the stickies.

Its a lot easier and safer with someone generally...especially if you are new to the whole thing.
An experienced partner can teach you a lot ...and keep you out of trouble.

Besides...day can get long by yourself...especially if you are packing something out from a couple miles off the road.
